Pairing your IUM
It is time to pair the IUM with your computer. To do this, please complete the following steps:
1. Run Infinite Portal
2. When prompted if you want to pair the IUM to your computer select "Yes"
3. Specify the Device Name that you want for your IUM. This can be anything you want
4. Specify the SSID for the wireless signal. This can be anything however should be unique for best performance.
Do not use the same SSID as your home/office access point
5. Specify the Security Type and Security Key
6. Press the "Save" button
The IUM has now been paired with your computer. You may now unplug the IUM and move the switch to Infinite Mode. Next you will be presented with the Preferences Tab that will allow you to configure the displayed size of the device.
Configuring the drive size
All the content that the Client sees on the IUM is read-only. This is a security measure that prevents other users from altering or deleting the files on your computer. However, the Client will see a folder called "Upload" which can be used to write data to the Host Computer. This is the only folder which has write access and it’s mapped directly to a user specified folder on the Host Computer.
Now it’s time to configure the IUM drive size. To simplify this process we’ve created a list of optimized configurations based on various commonly used devices. This list can be found under the setting called "Optimized for". Simply select the device or configuration you would like and hit save. Alternatively you can select custom and follow the steps below:
1. Specify the device capacity (in GB) and the file system that you want to use (FAT32 or NTFS), or choose from the list of Presets. Presets are pre-defined for best compatibility with several devices as indicated by the preset name
2. Specify the size of the Upload Folder (in GB). Your Host Computer must have this space available on its drive
3. Specify the location where uploaded files that are copied to the "Upload" folder by the Client will be stored on the Host PC
4. Press the "Save" button
You are now finished with the device configuration and can start sharing content.
The Preferences tab displays the used and available virtual space on the IUM and the Upload Folder. Once you are done sharing content, you can go to the Preferences tab to check how much virtual space you have used up and how much virtual free space you have left.
