If I go crazy then will you still call me Superman
Wow, I can’t believe it! Seems like it was yesterday that I entered the Infinitec office, got interviewed by our Chief Marketing Officer and received a call from him 2 days later. Now I am here sitting in my chair writing my second blog telling the world that it has been a month since that happen. Though short, that single month really changed me a lot. And to tell you the truth, it didn’t go well during the first couple of weeks.
Let me put it this way; what I’ve learned as a software engineer is totally different from what I am doing right now. What you know might be different from what you use at work, but we need to update our skills to meet the needs of our company. “Focus on what is needed and do it” – that’s it, no left or right turns. Just keep moving forward until you reach your goal. Because sometimes relying on our skills isn’t enough, and what’s important is having the determination and the perseverance to take that first step towards achievement. In my case, what I had to do is to think of the specific goal I needed to achieve and then I end up working late nights and over the weekend to recover the time I’d lost.
The other thing I’ve achieved during this month is that my responsiveness skills have improved. According to Michael Hyatt, Chairman and CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers, “unresponsive people are the ones who don’t return their phone calls promptly. They don’t answer their emails quickly. They don’t complete their assignments on time. They promise to do something and never follow through. They have to be reminded, prodded, and nagged. This behavior creates work for everyone else and eats into their own productivity. Sadly, they seem oblivious to it”.
This for me was a realization to one’s self to wake up and smell the needs of others. It is not that we become dependent on our team all the time. Sometimes the tables are turned and we become the person that could make the team move to the next level. “People want instant results” – that’s all there is to it. Much more if we belong to a company where our team wants it immediately. Letting our team wait can cause their frustration and resentment to grow.
Ultimately, being an intern at Infinitec is a journey towards growth and professionalism. Here we are being trained to survive the harsh winds and thunder that streaks across our line of duty. We are like babies being taught how to cross the street, robin catching joker without batman or Clark Kent catching bad guys without his costume. My point here is that Infinitec is the perfect place to learn and have fun at the same time. It’s a learning environment full of positive people ready to assist you with almost anything. Undergoing an internship at Infinitec and being trained at a managerial level is not a disadvantage but a privilege. One thing for sure is that they give room for growth to a young, aspiring person such as myself.
